Born in Chicago and raised in Detroit, Sheetal’s musical training began at the young
age of three, with both parents by her side teaching scales and traditional East Indian
melodies. By age five, Sheetal began her 12 year companionship with a violin gifted
by her father, whilst the rooms of her home were filled by the aromas of her mother’s
cooking, engaging Sheetal’s sense of smell and linking it to her developing sense
of hearing. The complex scents of the Indian spice box accompanied the music she
rehearsed on a daily basis, and thus began the relationship between scent and sound.
Lemony coriander waltzed with Handel. Bach sonatas duetted with fragrant cumin.

Sheetal began formal voice lessons in high school and went on to the University of
Michigan as a vocal performance major. After receiving a degree in Choral Music
Eduation, Sheetal moved to Los Angeles, where she sang in several bands and choral
ensembles while working as a high school choral music teacher and session singer.
In 2004 Sheetal released her debut album, "Love of Ages", which earned a place on
Backroad Music Best of 2004 list and was also selected as a finalist on Indie Acoustic
Project’s Best CD’s of 2004. She currently lives in Chicago, sings and records with
several choral ensembles, teaches private voice lessons, and continues to write and
record music.
